Kayla Champion

Kayla Champion is a screenwriter and storyteller based in New York City. She is a student of Creative Writing and Film at Fordham University, graduating in the spring.

She discovered her love of writing at a young age, taking the plots of some of her favorite stories and rewriting them to her own standards. To her parents’ chagrin, she forced them to listen to her constant stories of little kids getting transported to faraway, lands. Luckily, they suffered through and chose to help her pursue a career in storytelling, this time with her own characters and plots.

Kayla normally concerns herself with the stories of real people and real emotions, looking at the way people truly think and speak, from blasé circumstances to the dirty, nitty-gritty moments of life. Her focus tense to center on coming-of-age stories but isn’t afraid to stray to something new. She also enjoys finding the humor in everything, even in the darkest of situations.
